My Easter tulips.
My Easter tulips.
Source: Story

I am a tulip

Dark, moist months I spent
in textures of earthiness,
dreaming of the light.

Breaking from my bulb
with radicle abandon,
i established roots.

I shot stems upward
to bud and leave with greenly
Tulipa delight.

Yellow red petals
danced with thick stem suppled grace,
withstanding strong winds.

My passionate heart
pollinated within its
black velvet center.

Spring into summer
weather without as within,
I knew only joy.

With June came decline.
Petals faded, leaves grew limp,
my fruit capsule dropped.

Nestled in black earth,
my bulb rejuvenated,
preparing for spring.

Storytellerus beautiful poem. Imagery great. I'm basically a student of English literature and read and appreciated a lot. Now time is a constraint. Thanks for the share.

Lovely anthropomorphic rhythms in this disciplined haiku...I can relate to the " dark, moist months " yearning for the warm sun to pull me up from depths of ennui...I can also reflect on the bitter knowledge that just when you finally accrue some knowledge and understanding, all that's left is that which is between the two nodes of life and death...a kind of Purgatory, or God's Green Room...

Thank you for this thoughtful and well-constructed haiku...Voted up and beautiful...Larry

Pravf, I think the best poetry rolls over you and creates an experience not meant to be understood. This is my challenge. This poem does not fit that category, and was metaphorical play.
